Our Story

“If your vision is for a year, plant wheat. If your vision is for ten years, plant trees. If your vision is for a lifetime, plant people.” - Chinese Proverb

Cornerstone began in 1986 with a vision to sow good seed for God’s kingdom by serving and enriching society with wisdom and integrity. This included a bold vision, mission, and calling to invest in the economic vitality of our communities and to reinvest the harvest back into those same communities.

As a kid growing up in Richmond, California, my dream was to create a company with the most talented workforce, inclusive of people from all around the world – a virtual United Nations of engineers and technology professionals who would contribute their God-given talents to Cornerstone’s mission. I also sought to build a village community within the company comprised of people who would contribute their unique culture, skills, and valuable life experiences to our success. I also dreamt of establishing an innovative program to inspire and train teenagers to seek their calling in STEM careers and entrepreneurship.

The Company first started by providing volunteer services to churches and non-profit organizations. Our portfolio soon expanded to include Top Fortune 500 companies and technology industry leaders.

Our first seed was to provide pro bono professional design and project management services to churches and non-profits in our communities. As we continued to grow our business, while reinvesting in our communities, Cornerstone’s commercial sector portfolio of clients rapidly expanded to include Top Fortune 500 corporations and technology industry leaders. A few years later, our public sector portfolio of clients also expanded to include local, state, and federal agencies for infrastructure projects. We quickly earned a reputation as a valuable and trusted advisor to our clients due to our ability to manage the design, construction, and development of their major production and manufacturing facilities around the country. Our track record to deliver projects in time to meet product launches became a cornerstone of the company.

"Through the Cornerstone Village we go beyond the workday to a place where we learn from each other and take away life changing knowledge that will help to build wealth, health, and prosperity."

Today, Cornerstone is an industry leader for major commercial and public infrastructure projects throughout the United States and abroad. We continue to achieve and sustain a diverse and inclusive workforce with communities represented from all around the world.

The Cornerstone Village, which was initially established as a safe place to share ideas, is now a townhall meeting series where our employees gather to share experiences and to collaborate in areas of common interest including financial literacy, real estate investing, entrepreneurship, and health.

Cornerstone Village, along with our mentor-protégé program, helps to build relationships, which result in the professional and personal growth of our employees. The STEM program that was originally established to inspire, train, and mentor teenagers has also evolved and expanded to become the Cornerstone Institute for Anointing.

Today, the Institute continues to provide training to professionals, businesses, international students, displaced workers, military veterans, persons with disabilities, and others who are disproportionately underrepresented in the nation’s workforce. Our Institute exists to empower students with the insight and skills necessary to successfully compete in a globalized job market and attain economic independence.

We know Cornerstone’s history began with a vision. As we continue to be blessed with a bountiful harvest, we will continue to plant seeds in our communities to help them thrive.

Wherever we have a presence, there will be a Cornerstone Institute professional development and training program in that community.
