BART Capital and Operations Programs, San Francisco Bay Area
Powell Street Station Ceiling Modernization
This extension is a substantial addition to the Washington Metro’s transit system & provides a framework for future growth while taking aesthetic cues from the Northern Virginia landscape and the iconic Metro vault. Sustainable design elements include a passenger environment infused with natural light and engineered for maximum natural ventilation, along with the selection of environmentally responsible materials.

First Downtown San Francisco Project
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Station Upgrade Program is part of BART’s 15-year capital improvement project. The Powell Street Station Ceiling Upgrade Project was the first project in a downtown San Francisco station.
The project was to upgrade the fire sprinkler system, install new lighting system, install new grid ceiling system, and upgrade advertising signs.
Full-service Construction Management Team
Cornerstone’s role was to administer and manage the Construction Contract and mitigate BART’s risk. Cornerstone provided a full-service construction management team. We took the lead in coordinating with entities such as SFMTA, BART Operations, BART Advertising, etc.
We also assisted the prime in navigating through the multiple levels of paperwork required to meet contract requirements and devised ways to get the project back on schedule.
