San Francisco International Airport
West Field Cargo Redevelopment Project
The San Francisco International Airport West Field Cargo Redevelopment Facility (WFCF) Project aimed to develop an efficient and modern cargo facility. The project included demolition of Cargo Building No. 7 (a building that had exceeded its useful life), and construction of a modern cargo facility with upgrades to site utilities, roadways, and adjoining aircraft parking. Offices in the new facilities were built with a series of environmentally-efficient features.
Cornerstone provided project management support services for the duration of the project – from selecting the design-build contractor to project close-out. Cornerstone’s office and field engineers assisted with preparing bid documents, reviewing and approving schematic designs, as well as managing 100% of the construction documents. Duties also included daily monitoring of construction progress, preparing monthly progress reports, taking project photos, assessing and facilitating change orders and RFIs, and submitting and supervising special inspections.
